Sandblasting
Sandblasting is a mechanical surface-abrasion process that creates a clean and deoxidized rough surface, in order to ease the adhesion of adhesives to the metal or plastic part.
Sandblasting can be:
• Localized (on a specific part of the piece, carried using corundum and/or metal grit)
• Total (on the whole piece, carried out using metal grit and/or corundum sand).
Metal shot blasting
Metal shot blasting is used for the surface preparation of ferrous and aluminum metals.
This process can increase the roughness of the metal parts, thus allowing better adhesion of the adhesive.
Roughness is measured through a portable surface roughness tester. Roughness level obtained through this type of processing varies from 5 to 30 µm.
Corundum sandblasting
Corundum sandblasting is a surface abrasive treatment, less invasive if compared to metal grit. This type of sandblasting reduces both the risk of deformation and the possibility of oxidation of the material before the application of adhesives. Roughness obtained through this type of sandblasting varies between 2 and 6 µm.
